About this organisation

The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in underserved communities through veterinary care, sterilisation initiatives and community outreach.

Based in Midrand, their work extends into vulnerable areas such as Diepsloot, Olievenhoutbosch, Tembisa and River Sands, where they provide essential treatment and preventative care to domestic animals, farm animals and equines. Animals requiring additional medical support are brought to SAID’s veterinary hospital for further care by their professional team.

Beyond direct animal care, SAID also places strong emphasis on humane education and community empathy, recognising that compassion toward animals can foster safer, kinder and more connected communities.

Their impact is significant, supporting approximately 9,000 animals each year through a combination of outreach, medical care, sterilisation and education.
