About this organisation
Solidariteit Helpende Hand is a South African non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable well-being through education, training and social development. Their mission is to alleviate, prevent and break the cycle of poverty by creating opportunities that restore dignity and strengthen individuals, families and communities.
The organisation focuses on supporting vulnerable groups, including children, students, older persons and people with disabilities, through a wide range of long-term programmes. These include interest-free student funding, caregiver training, early childhood development, therapy services, parenting support, community development initiatives and sustainable income-generating projects.
Through its nationwide network of 15 regions and 170 local branches, Helpende Hand delivers practical support where it is needed most. In 2025 alone, the organisation completed more than 3,200 community projects worth R23.6 million and responded to over 5,000 requests for assistance, making a meaningful difference in communities across South Africa.
