About this organisation
The MENstruation Foundation is a non-profit organisation committed to eliminating period poverty in South Africa and beyond.
Founded with a clear purpose — to ensure that no girl misses school because of her period — the organisation provides free, dignified access to menstrual care through pad dispensers. Their approach removes barriers, restores dignity and creates equal opportunities for young women to continue their education without interruption.
Beyond access to sanitary products, the foundation is also focused on breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation, promoting awareness and empowering girls with confidence and support.
Their impact is significant: by August 2025, the organisation aims to have saved over 500,000 education days, addressing a critical issue where 1 in 3 schoolgirls miss up to 60 school days each year due to lack of access to sanitary products.
